Job summary

Halff is seeking a Structural Intern for our Richardson, TX office to support transportation design projects, including TxDOT and local roadway work.

You will assist in preparing plans and cost estimates, perform CAD tasks, and collaborate with engineers, surveyors, and contractors. This internship runs June 7 to August 13, 2027, offers 40 hours/week, and pays hourly with no housing provided. You will gain hands-on experience in design calculations and permit processes in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or ABET-equivalent.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Self-motivated with solid organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design civil projects under supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Assist in preparing plans, specs, and cost estimates for Transportation projects.

Structural Intern

Halff is actively seeking an Intern for our Structural team in our Richardson, TX office. The Civil Engineering Intern will be helping perform Transportation design, including TxDOT, city, and county roadway and highway design projects. This Civil Engineering Intern will assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Transportation projects as well as helping with CAD work. The Internship will begin on June 7th, 2027, and conclude on August 13th, 2027.

Interns are paid hourly and work full‑time (40 hours/week), typically 8a-5p Monday through Friday. Halff does not pay for or provide housing for Internships.

What You Will Do

• Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
• Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Transportation projects
• Assist with drafting CAD work
• Perform calculations and analysis for design projects
• Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents
• Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors
• Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies

What You Will Need

• Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering Degree
• Great communication skills
• Solid relationship and team building skills
