US Foods in Rosemont, IL, is seeking rising CS/Engineering students for a Summer Internship in Software Engineering. You will work on real projects supporting order processing, warehousing, and purchasing systems, applying COBOL and mainframe tech in enterprise-scale environments.

Interns will gain exposure to IBM Mainframe, Tandem systems, and modernization efforts. The program runs June–August, is full‑time (40 hours/week), and offers mentorship, feedback, and executive exposure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and must be enrolled during internship.
  • Coursework in COBOL programming is required.
  • Preference for experience in system analysis and SQL; familiarity with JCL is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Codes, tests, debug, implements, and documents moderately complex programs.
  • Creates documentation for program code and technical documentation.
  • Works with team to build programs meeting business needs.
  • Designs programs for projects or enhancements.
  • Develops unit test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs.
  • Follows Agile methodology and participates in SCRUM meetings.
