Interns will assist with day-to-day operations at the facility, including janitorial tasks and supporting a variety of construction and maintenance projects that may involve using tools, heavy equipment such as skid steers, and 4-wheel drive pickups with trailers. They will help staff build and replace target backers, paint steel targets, empty trash, and provide customer service by answering questions on the range, selling range memberships, and issuing hunting and fishing licenses. Helpful, though not required, coursework for this internship includes classes in wildlife management, natural resource management, or outdoor education, as well as range or land management. Courses in basic construction, carpentry, welding, or metal fabrication can support the hands-on components of the role, while studies in occupational safety or equipment operation may help interns feel more confident working around tools and machinery. Additionally, coursework in communications, customer service, business, or public interaction can strengthen the customer facing aspects of the position. Criminal justice or firearm related safety courses may also be beneficial, particularly for interns assisting with programs like HuntSAFE.
