BAYSTAR is seeking an Intern - Mechanical Engineer in Pasadena, TX to design mechanical products and perform engineering tasks within a cross-functional team in a chemical processing environment.

The role requires current enrollment as an undergraduate Mech Eng student (Junior/Senior) with a minimum 3.0 GPA, and strong technical, writing, and communication skills. Proficiency with MS Office is preferred; shifts may vary.

Qualifications

  • Current standing as a junior or senior enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required (submit unofficial transcript)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred
  • Strong technical, writing, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions and work tasks through completion
  • Detailed oriented with an emphasis on quality work products
  • Position is in a chemical processing facility and may require working different shifts

INTERN- MECHANICAL ENGINEER

BASIC FUNCTION

Design mechanical products and perform mechanical engineering functions in the execution of assigned projects in a cross-functional work team.

Responsibilities
  • Review drawings to ensure manufacturability and functionality.
  • Assist production with standard product engineering related concerns.
  • Analyze and resolve a range of engineering problems.
  • Understand, support, and comply with all plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Function as part of a design team and utilize engineering design.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed.
  • Ability to manage and execute small projects assigned.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications / Experience Required

Physical Capacity Requirements

This position requires the incumbent to:

  • Follow safety requirements for the role
  • Wear required PPE (eye protection, noise protection, etc.) when inside plant environment, or where directed by signage
  • Lift up to 10 pounds
  • Walk safely in and around industrial areas
  • Work under deadline pressure within an environment that demands attention to safety and detail
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Work at computer for significant periods of time throughout the day
