Job summary

KB Signaling Inc. invites applications for an Intern, Material/Production Planner and Scheduler (Supply Chain).

The role is on-site and focuses on supporting daily planning operations, coordinating with production, material planning, and scheduling teams to ensure timely materials and production flow. Ideal candidates will have a degree in SCM/Operations or related field, with strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems like SAP.

Qualifications

  • Foundational supply chain knowledge: MRP, scheduling, inventory, logistics.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving to identify trends and shortages.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.
  • Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, formulas) and PowerPoint; familiarity with ERP.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily planning operations and schedule execution.
  • Identify stranded inventory and support rework plans.
  • Help improve lead times for manufactured parts and support cash collection.
  • Identify material shortages and assist in escalation management to protect OTD.
  • Compile, analyze, and report key KPIs for process improvement.

JOB DESCRIPTION:


Essential Functions: Based on business need, the role will focus on one or more of the following:


  • Support Core Supply Chain Operations: Partner directly with the Production Planning, Material Planning, and Product Scheduling Teams to assist with daily planning operations and schedule execution.

  • Stranded Inventory Optimization: Identify zero-demand stranded inventory and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate an actionable rework plan into various production schedules (KPI: Inventory without Demand Reduction).

  • Lead Time Improvement: Utilize material availability tools to identify bottlenecks and improve lead times for 'D' parts, directly supporting cash collection initiatives (KPI: Cash Collection).

  • Shortage & Escalation Management: Proactively identify material shortages and assist in managing escalations for upcoming "Make" (manufactured) parts that fall outside normal planning windows to safeguard production timelines (KPI: On-Time Delivery (OTD)).

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Assist in compiling, analyzing, and reporting key supply chain performance metrics (KPIs) to identify process improvement opportunities.


Skills and Competencies:


  • Supply Chain Foundational Knowledge: Basic understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), production scheduling, inventory management, and logistics.

  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends/shortages, and propose data-driven solutions.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to manage escalations and collaborate effectively across the Production, Material, and Scheduling teams.

  • Software & Systems: Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel for data analysis, including pivot tables and formulas, and PowerPoint). Familiarity with ERP systems (such as SAP) is a plus.

  • Detail-Oriented & Adaptable: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Education:


  • Degree: Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
