Job summary

Volvo Group is seeking an Intern: Manufacturing Engineer (Spring 2027) in Middletown, PA. This temporary student role focuses on supporting new products in the plant, solving production issues, and coordinating equipment/tooling needs with maintenance.

Strong communication and collaboration are essential to deliver data-driven results. The internship requires enrolled Bachelor’s or Master’s studies, up to 30 hours per week for spring, and a minimum 2.75 GPA.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must be enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at an accredited school.
  • Completed 30 undergraduate semester hours prior to start of the internship/co‑op.
  • Spring interns may work up to 30 hours per week.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting / implementing new products in our plant.
  • Developing solutions for production problems relating to materials, manufacturing processes and/or tooling.
  • Provides equipment and tooling needs for the department and coordinates implementation with maintenance.
  • Perform high-level problem solving using classical tools.
  • Spend significant time communicating with the team; strong soft skills required.
  • Provide accurate data and reports pertinent to the team’s tasks.
  • Foster cooperation among individuals and departments to achieve goals.
  • Listen effectively, transmit information clearly, and seek feedback from engineers and project manager.
  • Follow through on commitments and timely delivery of assigned tasks.

Position Responsibilities
  • Supporting / implementing new products in our plant
  • Developing solutions for production problems relating to materials, manufacturing processes and/or tooling.
  • Provides equipment and tooling needs for the department & coordinates all aspects of implementing these items with the assistance of maintenance.
  • The ability to perform high-level problem solving using classical tools.
  • A significant amount of time will be spent communication with the team, so excellent soft skills are critical.
  • Attention to Detail: Provide accurate data and reports that are pertinent to the team’s tasks.
  • Teamwork: Building cooperation among individuals and departments, sharing information and resources, and working to achieve group goals and outcomes.
  • Communication: Listen effectively, transmit information accurately and understandably, and actively seek feedback from experienced engineers, project manager, etc.

Internship Education and Program Requirements
  • Applicant must be currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor´s or Master´s degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the co‑op/internship.
  • Spring interns may work up to 30 hours per week

For all intern and co‑op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
