JOB SUMMARY:
The Machine Tool internship allows students currently enrolled in Machine Tool Technology an opportunity to gain hands on experience working as a machinist while attending school. The position will provideguidance to learnspecific machinist duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

2. Receive specific machining instructions from blueprints and machine drawings.
3. Does as many second operations as possible, stamping part numbers and deburring during machine cycle time.
4. Check machine parts to ensure that they meet proper size, shape or tolerance specs. Uses micrometers and other measuring tools and devices to assure tolerances are held.
5. Maintain work centre and surrounding work area in a uniformly clean condition.
6. Must be able to perform basic set up and functions while developing programming and editing skills.
7. Must have novice skills, experience, and training to assume technically challenging work.
8. Must demonstrate a willingness to continue expanding his/her skills by pursuing training and cross training in any area of the Machine Shop as availability of equipment allows.
9. Observe proper safety rules and regulations.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Prefer at least one semester of education or training in Machine Tool Technology. Be able to read and interpret machine drawings and blueprints.
