Job summary

KB Signaling Inc. is seeking an IXL Application Design Engineer Intern to support the engineering team in the design and development of rail signaling applications.

This on-site internship in Kentucky offers hands-on experience with CAD tools, plan design, and logic conversion on real projects. You will collaborate with experienced engineers, translate VHLC logic into ELIXS logic, and contribute to basic application logic creation while following structured instructions and maintaining attention

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD).
  • Basic understanding of logic systems and control applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured instructions.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • CAD Updates: Perform minor revisions to existing plan sets using CAD software.
  • CAD Quality Checks: Review and verify engineer markups against final CAD outputs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Logic Conversion: Translate VHLC logic into ELIXS logic using structured work instructions for VHLC replacement projects.
  • Plan Design: Modify typical location plans to meet specific project requirements, contributing to basic book of plan development.
  • Logic Development: Adapt standard logic sets for new locations, supporting basic application logic creation.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:

As an IXL Application Design Engineer Intern, you will support the engineering team in the design and development of rail signaling applications. This internship offers hands‑on experience with CAD tools, application logic conversion, and plan design, contributing directly to real-world projects. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and gain exposure to industry-standard processes and tools.
