The role is on-site in Lynchburg, VA or remote, offering hands‑on experience across the full software development lifecycle under senior developers’ guidance. U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with technical and business teams.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and cybersecurity requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in software design and requirements sessions with the Applications team and stakeholders to understand requirements and contribute to solution design.

Position Overview:

The .NET Developer Intern will assist with designing, developing, testing, and supporting business applications across the user interface, application, and database layers. Using Microsoft .NET and related web technologies, the intern will gain hands‑on experience throughout the software development lifecycle while contributing to active projects under the guidance of experienced developers.

Your Day to Day as an IT .NET Developer Intern:

  • Participate in software design and requirements sessions with the Applications team and business stakeholders to understand requirements and contribute to solution design.
  • Design, develop, and enhance .NET-based web applications according to defined requirements, development standards, security practices, and established architecture.
  • Participate in peer code reviews to improve code quality, maintainability, and adherence to development standards.
  • Develop and execute application test plans, working with the Applications team and business users to validate functionality and resolve identified issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and project artifacts to support application deployment, support, knowledge transfer, and successful handoff of completed solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of object‑oriented programming and software development concepts.
  • Coursework or hands‑on experience with C#, .NET, or a comparable programming language.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with technical and business team members.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks, meet deadlines, and ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, development practices, and business processes.
  • Ability to follow organizational requirements for cybersecurity, confidentiality, data protection, and acceptable technology use.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ASP.NET Core, Web APIs, or Entity Framework.
  • Familiarity with a front‑end framework such as Angular, React, or Blazor.
  • Experience using Git or another source‑control platform.
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, or similar development tools.
  • Experience developing applications through coursework, personal projects, internships, or employment.
  • Understanding of software testing, debugging, and application security principles.

Pay: $26.52

The starting hourly rate for this position in Virginia (US-VA) is expected to be $26.52 per hour. The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at‑will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify the hourly rate (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation, or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or applicable department/team performance, and other market factors.
