Job summary

University of Massachusetts President's Office seeks a Fall 2026 Intern in Internal Audit, for 20 hours per week in a hybrid work setting at Westborough. The internship is designed for current UMass students to learn, think analytically, and engage in public service while communicating complex ideas clearly.

• Current UMass student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (Accounting, Business Admin or IT).
• GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Interest in higher education, internal audit, operations, compliance, and IT.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfortable with new technology.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, work both independently and as part of a team, and think critically.
• Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Inquisitive with analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Ability to travel to all five UMass campuses.

Job Summary:

The University of Massachusetts Office of the President seeks UMass students for an Intern for Fall 2026 in the division of University Internal Audit (IA). The internship is ideal for a current UMass undergraduate or graduate student who is eager to learn, inspired to think analytically, excited by public service, and motivated to communicate complicated ideas clearly.

The selected intern will gain valuable insights into Internal Audit’s role at the University and the operations of and systems used by various departments across the University. The internship will be project-based and require frequent collaboration with colleagues within IA, the broader President’s Office, and campuses. Under the guidance of Internal Audit Management and Senior Auditors, the Intern will support Internal Audit’s goals by taking part in evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of the University’s operations, compliance with policy and regulations, and systems of internal control.

This internship is part-time for Fall 2026, with a pay rate of $17 per hour. In addition to being a paid internship, academic credit may also be available.
