Job summary

Crystal Group, Inc. is seeking an Intern, Industrial Engineer to join our Operations team on-site in Cedar Rapids, IA.

The intern will assist in analyzing manufacturing processes, evaluating production methods, and supporting ergonomics, productivity, and cost improvements for existing and new products. Responsibilities include developing capital expenditure proposals, performing cost justifications, optimizing workflow and material routing, and providing technical assistance with root cause

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in industrial engineering or related field.
• US Person required per company policy.

Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing processes, production equipment, and methods for improvements.
• Design, review, and evaluate manufacturing processes for new and existing products (ergonomics, productivity, manufacturability, cost).
• Develop capital expenditure proposals and cost justifications for new equipment.
• Conduct studies to maximize workflow, material routing, and spatial utilization.
• Provide technical assistance and process improvement - root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Conduct safety audits/assessments and address safety issues with management.
• Decide allocation of equipment and labor within budget constraints.
• Represent Crystal Group with suppliers and the community.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the design, development, verification of assigned mechanical components to include sheet-metal / machined-metal parts and assemblies, and theoretical mechanical concepts required to integrate mechanical and electrical components into one assembly.

Essential Functions

• Analyze manufacturing processes, production equipment, and methods for continuous improvement projects
• Design, review and evaluate the manufacturing processes of new and existing products, including ergonomic assessments, productivity improvements, manufacturability, and cost improvements
• Develop capital expenditure proposals and perform cost justifications for new equipment
• Conducts studies in operations to maximize workflow, material routing, and spatial utilization
• Provides technical assistance and engineering support in the form of process improvement including performing root cause analysis, and implementing preventative and corrective action as required
• Conduct safety audits/assessments, identify and work with management to resolve safety issues, and ensure that accepted corrective actions are implemented
• Decide how the company should allocate its equipment and labor within the framework of existing physical constraints and budget
• Represent Crystal in the most positive manner with prospective and current suppliers and the community we serve

Required Qualifications

• Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected person")
• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering or related field

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Occasional exposure to manufacturing floor and testing environments. May require lifting up to 25 lbs, standing for extended periods during product testing.
