Job summary

Micron Boise is seeking a High Volume Manufacturing Equipment Engineer-in-training to monitor, sustain, and enhance machinery in the fabrication facility. You will work with process teams, perform preventive maintenance, and solve equipment issues using mechanical, electronic, and PC/software skills.

The role emphasizes safety, TPM ownership, and data-driven improvements using SPC/DOE/8D approaches, with opportunities to contribute to AI-enabled analytics and automation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Working towards degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, fundamentals of electricity, and electronic components.
• Programming and data analysis experience using tools such as Python, Java, Tableau, MATLAB, or Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Safely identify, handle, and work with chemicals and associated hazards in the work area.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to safety alarms and events, including EES, fire alarms, MDA, and ERT notifications.
• Drive improvements in area and shift KPIs through LTD reduction, MA improvement, excursion prevention, and the application of AI‑enabled analytics and automation solutions where appropriate.
• Foster a culture of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) through ownership of TPM metrics, workstation health reports, continuous improvement initiatives, and MTAG execution.
• Partner with Equipment Owners, Shift Engineers, and Technicians to resolve issues that may result in yield loss, defects, excursions, tool restrictions, or output loss.
• Lead root cause investigations and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
• Leverage Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and structured problem‑solving methodologies such as 8D to improve process control, reduce defectivity, and minimize unplanned downtime.
• Develop, maintain, and update procedures, training materials, assessor checklists, and related documentation to support standardized execution and continuous improvement.

ID1 High Volume Manufacturing Equipment Engineer is responsible for monitoring, sustaining, and improving the equipment while working in partnership with process team members and area engineers. In this position you will supervise tool performance, schedule and perform preventative maintenance on assigned tool sets, and use mechanical, electronic and PC/software skills to solve and repair equipment issues. They are also required to assist with equipment installations, engineering tests, build and modify equipment procedures, increase tool uptime through systematic problem solving and quality workmanship, and thoroughly document all maintenance. This is a hands‑on equipment focused role with time spent in the fabrication facility.

Minimum qualifications

• Working towards degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Other technical fields may be considered.
• Must be a current student and not graduate before September 2026.
• Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, fundamentals of electricity, and electronic components.
• Understanding of mechanical, vacuum, gas delivery, and electrical systems, including the ability to interpret schematic diagrams for issue resolution.
• Programming and data analysis experience using tools such as Python, Java, Tableau, MATLAB, or Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Experience applying statistical process control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), 8D, or other structured problem‑solving methodologies.
• Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, equipment systems, and cleanroom operations.
• Experience implementing automation, AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics to improve equipment performance, reliability, or operational efficiency.
• Experience and/or interest in developing Agentic AI workflows into current or future processes.
