Job summary

Invenergy LLC offers a Summer 2027 internship in Grid Integration Engineering, based in Chicago. Interns will assist with the design, evaluation, and construction of large-scale energy projects across renewable, storage, and transmission domains.

You will review interconnection requirements and study results, gain experience with wind, solar, BESS, HVDC, and dynamic modeling, and collaborate with multiple departments to support project execution.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a 4-year Bachelor's degree program with an expected graduation date between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
• Majoring in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems Engineering focus.
• Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Support renewable, storage, large-load, and transmission projects connecting to the grid.
• Review interconnection requirements, grid-code obligations, study results, and project performance requirements.
• Work across Development, Interconnection, Grid Modeling, Procurement, Engineering, Compliance, and Operations to support project execution.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM - Summer 2027 Internship

Our program takes place from the end of May/early June - August lasting for 10-12 weeks.

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

Applicants will be considered for internships with various electrical engineering departments across the organization. Our engineering interns are responsible for overseeing the technical design, evaluation, and construction of commercial and utility-scale projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an intern on the Grid Integration Engineering team, you will support renewable, storage, large-load, and transmission projects connecting to the grid.

• You will help review interconnection requirements, grid-code obligations, study results, and project performance requirements.
• You will gain exposure to wind, solar, BESS, hybrid plants, data centers, HVDC, FACTS, dynamic modeling, EMT studies, and IEEE 2800 compliance.
• You will work across Development, Interconnection, Grid Modeling, Procurement, Engineering, Compliance, and Operations to support project execution.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently enrolled in a 4-year Bachelor's degree program with an expected graduation date between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028, or currently enrolled in a Master's program.
• Majoring in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems Engineering focus.
• Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Demonstrated interest in the renewable energy or clean energy sector.
• Prior internships in the field.

Base Pay

$22.00 - $27.00 USD Hourly

Interns may be eligible to contribute to a 401k.
