Job summary

Invenergy in Chicago offers a Summer 2027 internship in Grid Integration Engineering for electrical engineering students. You will assist with renewable, storage, and transmission projects, helping with design, evaluation, and construction of large-scale facilities.

Applicants must be enrolled in a 4-year program, with power systems focus, and be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. The internship lasts 10–12 weeks, from late May/early June to August.

• Gain exposure to wind, solar, BESS, HVDC, FACTS, dynamic modeling, EMT studies, and IEEE 2800 compliance.

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

Applicants will be considered for internships with various electrical engineering departments across theorganization. Our engineering internsare responsible foroverseeing the technical design, evaluation, and construction of commercial and utility-scale projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• As an intern on the Grid Integration Engineering team, you will support renewable, storage, large-load, and transmission projects connecting to the grid.

• You will help review interconnection requirements, grid-code obligations, study results, and project performance requirements.

• You will gain exposure to wind, solar, BESS, hybrid plants, data centers, HVDC, FACTS, dynamic modeling, EMT studies, and IEEE 2800 compliance.

• You will work across Development, Interconnection, Grid Modeling, Procurement, Engineering, Compliance, and Operations to support project execution.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Currentlyenrolled in a 4-year Bachelor’s degree program with an expected graduation date between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028, or currently enrolled in a Master’s program.

• Majoring in Electrical Engineering with Power SystemsEngineeringfocus.

• Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

• Demonstrated interest in the renewable energy or clean energy sector

• Prior internships in the field.

Base Pay

$22.00 - $27.00 USD Hourly
