Generac is seeking a Firmware Engineering Intern in Reno, NV to contribute to embedded firmware development for residential power electronics. You will work on on-site projects, collaborating with experienced engineers and gaining hands-on experience with real hardware and lab testing.
During the internship you will use C/C++ for firmware, write Python scripts for tooling, participate in design reviews, and learn through practical, end-to-end project work in a fast-paced environment.

In this hands‑on role, you’ll contribute to embedded firmware development for new products, support existing systems, and gain real lab experience testing physical hardware. This internship is 5 days a week on‑site in Reno, NV.
Ability to perform detail‑oriented work with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to translate technical information to varied audiences. Foundational understanding of engineering principles. Comfortable with structured problem‑solving and willing to ask questions. Growing knowledge of communication protocols and hardware interfaces.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer‑based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
