Job summary

Howmet Aerospace invites students to join its Financial Accounting Services internship in Pittsburgh for Summer 2027. This 12-week program blends hands-on accounting tasks with a strategic impact project in a hybrid setting, including remote work options and a housing stipend.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Tackle real-world assignments in the Financial Accounting Services (FAS) internship program.

Your education is just the beginning - you'll become an active member of our Financial Shared Services team located in Pittsburgh, PA. During our 12-week internship program, you'll tackle real-world challenges through impactful assignments, and work alongside our industry changemakers.

The Intern - Financial Accounting Services (FAS) willutilize Excel and various other tools to perform a variety of tasks with FAS such as account reconciliations and journal entries.

Intern Impact Project: Lead a thorough review of FAS Standard Operating Procedures and update the yearly review process.

A Day in the Life at Howmet...

In addition to your impact project work, you'll have the opportunity to:

• Attend meetings with the leadership team
• Gain exposure to lease accounting
  • Reconcile lease balance sheet accounts
  • Analyze standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to the process
  • Assist with the leases in evergreen status
  • Ad Hoc leasing requests
• Use the accounting systems in connection with monthly general ledger financial close and consolidation.
• Assist with ad hoc projects related to the GL
• Assist with GL location support
  • Preparing quarterly files for balance sheet reconciliation reviews with location
  • Performs monthly tasks related to journal entry bookings and account reconciliation completions.
• Analyze business operations and identifying key performance issues
• Apply finance/accounting principles to real-life scenarios
• Contact customers to follow on the payment status of invoices (both in advance and when overdue), send statements and reminders, document correspondence and escalationstuck items as appropriate.
• Ensure that customer exposure is consistent with the approved credit limit. Make recommendations on whether held orders should be released.
• Reconcile customer accounts to ensure customer AP ledgers are in synch with our AR ledger.
• Evaluate the creditworthiness of new or existing customers and recommending an appropriate credit limit.
• Participate in ASAT testing to ensure credit processes are in control and capable.

Qualifications

Your Education, Skills, and Experience:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics with an expected graduation date in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent
• Demonstrated internship, work, research, or extracurricular participation
• Involved with at least 1 extracurricular activity
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Interns must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Compensation for this internship opportunity ranges between $20- $22 per hour. (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).

A relocation stipend in the amount of $3,600 will be provided to students located 50+ miles from the physical location of the internship.
