Job summary

BMW Group USA in Santa Monica is seeking a Spring 2027 Finance Operations Intern to support planning, tracking, and reporting on projects, with emphasis on data analysis and dashboard creation.

The role requires being enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program, 60 credits completed, and US work authorization. Hybrid work is offered with a structured, hands-on experience in finance and operations.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program.
• US Work Authorization required.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (overall).
• Completed at least 60 college credit hours at the time of application.
• Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week).
• Must submit an unofficial college transcript with your application.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers in planning, tracking, and reporting on active projects, including timelines, budgets, resourcing, and deliverables in Adobe Workfront.
• Support the CFO and the Project Management Manager on finance, studio operations and resource-planning tasks, including preparing reports and data visualization.
• Build and maintain Excel models using advanced formulas, pivot tables, and lookups to keep project and financial data accurate and current.
• Write Python scripts to clean, combine, and analyze data from multiple sources, and automate recurring reporting tasks.
• Develop and update HTML dashboards that give teams a clear, real-time view of project health and financial performance.
• Explore the potential of AI tools to improve efficiency, productivity, data visualization, communication, etc
• Translate tables and numbers into simple, visual takeaways for design teams, helping non-technical colleagues understand what the data means and what to do next.
• Create clear, well-structured PowerPoint presentations for project reviews, client updates, and internal leadership meetings.
• Identify opportunities to improve project management and finance processes, and help put those improvements into practice.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at an accredited college or university.
• US Work Authorization required.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (overall, not just major).
• Completed at least 60 college credit hours at the time of application.
• Ability to work full-time (40.0 hours/week).
• Must submit an unofficial college transcript with your application.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING.

• Field of study: Finance, Business, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong math and analytical skills, with comfort working through numbers and spotting errors or trends in data.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Coding experience, ideally in Python; familiarity with HTML/CSS for building simple dashboards is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially the ability to explain complex or numeric information simply to visual, non-technical audiences.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience working with various AI tools for development and curiosity about how AI tools can improve workflows and efficiency.
• Preferences:
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Adobe Workfront, Asana, Smartsheet, Jira).
  • Familiarity with collaborative and design tools (e.g., Figma, Miro, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Coursework or experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or project management.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position. This is a hybrid role that requires four in-office days at the Santa Monica, CA office and one remote day.

The hourly rate for Undergraduate students is $25.30
The hourly rate for Graduate students is $32.20
