Hussmann's Internship Program provides meaningful, real-life experiences while working as a solutions leader in the food retailing industry. Hussmann interns receive competitive compensation, participate in community stewardship, network with company leadership, and learn about career opportunities available at Hussmann.

As a Finance Intern in the 2027 Hussmann Summer Internship Program, you will gain experience and insight into a day in the life of a financial and accounting professional. You will work in two of the following departments within the various accounting and finance functions – Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Corporate Accounting, Systems/Consolidations, Tax, FP&A or one of the business finance and accounting groups (Operations (Install / Service), Equipment or Manufacturing).

Responsibilities
  • Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support.
  • Assist with performing financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking.
  • Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Work closely with the accounts payable team to review and update suppliers, enter payable invoices and/or reconcile supplier statements.
  • Work closely with the accounts receivable and credit and collections team on customer account analysis and reporting.
  • Assist with preparing and analyzing monthly closing entries and reconciliations.
  • Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and dashboards.
  • Review the P&L throughout the month to identify and resolve trend issues.
  • Assist with analyzing and preparing capital expenditure requests.
  • Assist with reconciling perpetual inventory balances to the general ledger and resolve variances.
  • Report and analyze margins by product and customer category.
  • Work closely with the tax team on gathering and analyzing documents for international/federal and state return purposes.
  • Network with senior leaders, associates, and other program interns to learn about our organization.
  • Tour Hussmann's 1.6 million square foot manufacturing facility, our Global Hub for hosting customers, and the R&D Lab where we test product quality.
  • Participate in community stewardship outreach, career development events, and other team-building offsite events.
Ideation & Innovation Challenge

Throughout the twelve-week program, all Hussmann interns will divide into cross-functional teams and compete with one another for the Hussmann Ideation & Innovation Challenge. Working with Hussmann mentors and leaders, you and your team will identify a solution to a provided problem statement. At the end of the summer, you’ll present your team’s business proposal to a panel of judges, executive leaders, and the organization – and possibly create a roadmap for Hussmann’s next great innovation.

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in school pursuing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects, and demonstrate strong attention to detail
  • Highly motivated and eager to learn
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Experience utilizing AI platforms
  • Ability to relocate, if not local

The summer internship will run from the third week of May through the first week of August. These dates may be changed to meet the needs of the student.
