Job summary

McCarthy Improvement in Davenport, IA is seeking an Estimator Intern for Summer 2027 to assist estimators, project managers and field supervisors with estimation and project coordination. Based in Davenport, you will gain hands-on experience estimating change orders, coordinating bids, scheduling contracts, and preparing quantity takeoffs under a Lead Estimator.

Strong written and verbal communication and proficiency with Bluebeam and MS Office (Excel) are preferred; coursework in construction

McCarthy Improvement is looking for a Estimator Intern for Summer 2027.

Applicants who are pursuing any level college degree or trade program that focuses on construction management, design, engineering or other construction trade are encouraged to apply. This will be a full time role scheduled 32-40 hours per week with a flexible start date based on school timelines.

What can you expect in this role?

At MCI, we are looking for highly motivated interns to assist our estimators, project managers and field supervisors with estimation and project coordination. Interns will be based out of our location in Davenport, Iowa.

Under the supervision of a Lead Estimator, responsibilities will include:

• Estimating cost for change orders
• Soliciting bidders and suppliers and coordinating subcontractor activity and vendor purchase orders
• Scheduling of various contracts and materials
• Prepare quantity takeoffs
• Participate in site visits and observations
• Quality and document control
