Job summary

McCarthy Improvement in Davenport, IA is seeking an Estimator Intern for Summer 2027 to assist estimators, project managers and field supervisors with estimation and project coordination. Based in Davenport, you will gain hands-on experience estimating change orders, coordinating bids, scheduling contracts, and preparing quantity takeoffs under a Lead Estimator.

Strong written and verbal communication and proficiency with Bluebeam and MS Office (Excel) are preferred; coursework in construction

Qualifications

Pursuing any level college degree or trade program focusing on construction management, design, engineering or other construction trade.
Proficiency using Bluebeam and Microsoft Office products including Excel is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize work and meet project deadlines.
Based in Davenport, IA.

Responsibilities

Estimating cost for change orders.
Soliciting bidders and suppliers; coordinating subcontractor activity and vendor purchase orders.
Scheduling various contracts and materials.
Prepare quantity takeoffs.
Participate in site visits and observations.
Quality and document control.
Writing RFIs, submittals, and assisting in change orders.
Collecting and reporting data.
