Job summary

Sundt Construction, Inc. invites engineering and construction management students to join our internship program. You will work with our Preconstruction and Operations teams, supporting tasks across proposals, bid packages, and cost estimates, while gaining hands-on industry experience.

You’ll participate in meetings, maintain project documents, and use modeling software to support accurate quantities and estimates. This role emphasizes learning and collaboration within a dynamic builder setting.

Responsibilities

• Help organize and maintain project documents.
• Participate in site visits to understand conditions.
• Support estimating team with quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Use modeling software (Revit/Navisworks) to develop quantities.
• Collaborate with leads, estimators, and team to finish preconstruction tasks.

Job Summary

Sundt is looking for committed engineering and construction management students within accredited universities/colleges. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in the construction industry, specifically in the preconstruction phase of our projects. The intern will work closely with our Preconstruction and Operations teams, supporting various tasks that contribute to the successful planning and execution of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Aid in the preparation of proposals and presentations for potential clients.
• Assist in analyzing subcontractor bids and vendor proposals to ensure they meet project requirements.
• Assist in the preparation and assembly of bid packages, ensuring that all necessary documents, specifications, and requirements are included and accurately presented.
• Attend and contribute to preconstruction meetings, taking notes and assisting with follow‑up tasks.
• Help organize and maintain project documents, including plans, specifications, and addendums.
• Participate in site visits as needed to gain a better understanding of project conditions and requirements.
• Supporting the estimating team in preparing quantity take‑offs, developing cost estimates, and creating bid packages.
• Utilize modeling software (such as Revit, Navisworks, or similar) to develop accurate quantities and support the estimating process.
• Work closely with operational leads, estimators, and other team members to ensure all preconstruction activities are completed accurately and on time.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a four‑year Construction Management or Engineering program.
• Eager to learn, immensely curious, full of questions
• Prefer those who have interest in a construction career for a builder.
• Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Physical Requirements

• May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
• Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
• Will interact with people and technology frequently during a shift/work day
• Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50Ibs on an occasional basis.
• Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.
• Will use telephone, computer system, email, and other electronic devices on a frequent basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors

Compensation Range

Compensation Range: $23-$28/hr
