Responsibilities

• Serve in a field support role on construction projects including observation, soil/groundwater sampling, and density testing.
• Willingness to visit construction sites to assist in field activities.
• Assist with site characterization, subsurface investigation, and infrastructure projects.
• Assist in evaluating subsurface geotechnical and environmental data.
• Assist in geotechnical design/analysis and developing recommendations.
• Assist in running geotechnical testing on soil samples with laboratory staff.
• Complete a presentation at the end of the internship period.
• Other duties as assigned

We are looking to bring on an Intern, Environmental Scientist, Environmental Engineer, or Geologist to assist office engineers and project managers with day-to-day project tasks. This is a full-time role that will be about 3 months beginning Spring 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity to get some hands-on, working field experience and be a valuable contributor to our project teams. This role will be based out of our Princeton, NJ or Holicong, PA office location.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

In this position, you will:

• Serve in a field support role, working on interesting and technically challenging construction projects. Field activities may include construction observation, sampling of soil or groundwater, in-situ density testing, and observation of earthwork and foundation construction activities.
• Express a willingness to visit construction sites to assist in the field with our construction monitoring service group.
• Assist engineers and Project Managers with the planning and execution of site characterization, subsurface investigation, and construction of various infrastructure and real estate development projects.
• Assist with evaluation of subsurface geotechnical and environmental data.
• Assist in performing geotechnical design/analysis and developing geotechnical recommendations.
• Assist the laboratory manager in running geotechnical testing on soil samples.
• Complete a presentation at the end of the internship period.
• Other duties as assigned

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Minimum Skills and Requirements:

• Candidate should be at least 2 years into their academic career.
• Candidate should be enrolled in a an environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, or geoscience educational program (undergraduate or graduate).
• Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn.
• Be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
• Computer Skills – Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in all MS Office software.
• Valid driver’s license highly preferred.
• Ability to work for 3 consecutive months on a full-time basis.

The salary range for this position inPrinceton, NJ or Holicong, PAis$22.00- $25.00hourly. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
