Job summary

Southland Industries seeks motivated interns and new graduates for its Energy Engineering internship program in California. You will join the Design/Build team to gain hands-on experience across energy audits, data collection, and energy modeling.

You will assist senior engineers with field audits, data logger setup, and energy reports, building practical skills while contributing to real projects. Potential for full-time employment exists.

Qualifications

Position Summary

Our internship program is designed to introduce candidates to a career in the field of Energy Engineering for the Design/Build construction industry. Primary responsibility is to assist the Energy Engineering team in all aspects of our work.

  • Assist senior resources in performing field audits and measurement and verification which will include data logger installation, data collection, utility bill and rate analysis, and developing energy savings analysis models.
  • Support energy audits that are used to identify and recommend energy efficiency improvements.
  • Support obtaining energy incentives and verifying tax benefits on large projects.
  • Perform basic deliverables in support of energy reports, validating and analyzing energy efficiency design concepts leveraging the fundamentals of building mechanical, electrical, and domestic/irrigation water system engineering. Assist in planning and conducting building energy analysis.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Energy, or Mechanical Engineering; or in a related field. Completion of classes in energy systems, energy efficiency, power systems, or generation systems highly desirable.

Pay:For California-based internship roles, the pay rate is set at $26.00 per hour, in alignment with program guidelines and market standards.
