Job summary

Frank Lloyd Wright Trust is seeking an intern for an 8-week program at Wright’s Home and Studio this fall. You’ll work with the Education Department giving tours to K-12 audiences and develop your own project with staff help.

You will learn the standard interpretive tour, assist with content creation and education projects, and support daily office tasks alongside education staff.

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate student with an interest in museum public engagement with young people.
  • Experience working with K-8 audiences is highly recommended.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working closely with a diverse public.
  • Must be organized, self-managed and able to collaborate.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the standard K-12 interpretive tour of the Home and Studio to assist with tours.
  • Shadow, then lead tours for groups of up to 15 K-12 students and chaperones.
  • Assist with setup, coordination, and cleanup during tours.
  • Work with staff on ongoing education projects.
  • Assist with content creation (video and curricula) and research for programs.
  • Help organize the office and catalog previous projects.
  • Create your own project or presentation (video or art activity) for students or families.
  • Explore resources and apply pedagogy to your project vision.

Salary: $17.05 - $17.25 per hour, 15 hours per wee

Its mission: To engage, educate and inspire the public through interpretation of Frank Lloyd Wright’s design legacy and preservation of his original sites for future generations.

Position Summary:

The Frank Lloyd Wright Trust Education Department is looking for an intern for an 8-week program at Wright’s iconic Home and Studio this fall. In this internship, you’ll be working closely with the Trust’s education department giving tours to K-12 audiences and creating your own unique project with education staff assistance and helping the education staff with daily duties. Please submit a resume with your school, extracurricular, and/or work experience, as well as a brief writing sample like a school assignment, you’re proud of or something you’ve written for a club or work.

Duties:

  • Learn our standard K-12 interpretive tour of the Home and Studio to assist with tours
  • Shadow, then become independent in leading tours for groups of up to 15 K-12 students + chaperones
  • Help with setup, coordination, and cleanup during the tours
  • Work with staff on ongoing education projects
  • Assist with content creation (including video and curricula) and research for upcoming programs
  • Assist with organizing the office and cataloguing previous projects
  • Create your own project or presentation to share with others, such as a video or an art activity for students or families
  • Explore Trust resources like books, tour materials, archives, interviews, existing curricula to pursue your curiosity
  • Apply pedagogical and content creation strategies you’ve learned to your own project vision
  • Workshop your project with Education staff, who can provide feedback and guidance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate (any major) with an interest in museum public engagement with young people.
  • Experience working with K-8 audiences is highly recommended.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working closely with a diverse public.
  • Must have superb organization skills and be able to self-manage and collaborate.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite or Canva is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish language (for giving interactive tours to school groups) is desirable.
