Job summary

The American Heart Association offers an internship on our Development Team supporting Heart Ball, Go Red for Women and other community campaigns. You will plan, coordinate, and execute pre-event logistics and assist with sponsor materials, outreach, and data tracking.

We seek seniors or graduate students in business, communications, nonprofit fundraising, or event management with strong written and oral communication, plus experience in promotion or fundraising.

Qualifications

• Seniors or grads pursuing a degree in business, communications, nonprofit fundraising, or event management.
• Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
• Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills.
• Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working with community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
• Effective oral and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Basic knowledge of Canva.
• Reliable WiFi and transportation.
• Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F 8:30am-5pm.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning, coordinating, and executing pre-event logistics and on-site event management for multiple community events.
• Conduct pre-event outreach to attendees to support participation.
• Assist with sponsor presentation preparation and gathering materials for sponsor follow-up after meetings.
• Assist with pulling reports, data entry, and organizing event-related information to track progress and outcomes.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing printed materials and organizing event supplies.
• Support the planning and execution of Hands-Only CPR demonstrations.

The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands‑on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non‑profit, voluntary health organization.

We have an exciting opportunity for an intern on our Development Team. As an intern supporting our Heart Ball, Go Red for Women and other community events, you will play a key role in driving the success of these impactful campaigns. Your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks that contribute to the planning, execution, and follow‑up of these life‑saving initiatives.

Internship Overview:

• Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
• Internship Duration: 1/25/27 – 5/7/27
• Location: Remote within the Corpus Christi, TX area
• Salary: $23.00 per hour

Responsibilities

Event Planning & Support:

• Assist with the planning, coordinating, and executing pre‑event logistics, and on‑site event management for multiple community events.

Event Participant Outreach & Engagement:

• Conduct pre‑event outreach to attendees of events to support participation.

Sponsor Support:

• Assist with sponsor presentation preparation and gathering materials for sponsor follow‑up after meetings, helping to maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Data & Reporting:

• Assist with pulling reports, data entry, and organizing event‑related information to track progress and outcomes.

Administrative Support:

• Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing printed materials, assembling thank‑you cards, and organizing event supplies.

Hands‑Only CPR Events:

• Support the planning and execution of Hands‑Only CPR demonstrations.

Qualifications

• Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, communications, public relations, nonprofit fundraising, or event management.
• Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
• Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills.
• Demonstrated skills in effective one‑on‑one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
• Effective oral and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Basic knowledge of Canva.
• Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection and reliable transportation.
• Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M‑F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
