Responsibilities

  • Follow and promote safety, ethics, and compliance standards in all work activities.
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting activities, including capital project setup and tracking.
  • Support preparation of financial schedules and documentation for quarterly/annual reporting, including SEC filings.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end close activities and reporting processes.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests by gathering documentation and schedules.
  • Participate in data analysis to identify trends and improve reporting effectiveness.
  • Support automation initiatives and process improvement projects to increase efficiency and strengthen controls.
  • Gain experience using financial systems and data extraction tools to support accounting and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Internal Audit, FP&A, and operational finance teams.
  • Develop reports, presentations, and analyses to support management decision-making and financial transparency.
  • Perform all responsibilities in alignment with the Company’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Code of Ethical Conduct.

Job description

The Martin Marietta Summer Corporate Accounting Internship provides students with meaningful, hands‑on experience supporting the Company's corporate accounting and financial reporting functions. This approximately 10-week program offers the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business activities while developing accounting, analytical, financial reporting, process improvement, and professional skills.

Working alongside experienced accounting and finance professionals and reporting to members of the Corporate Accounting team, Corporate Accounting Interns gain exposure to a variety of key accounting and financial reporting functions, including financial reporting, fixed assets accounting, account reconciliations, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. Interns contribute to projects and processes that support accurate financial reporting, strengthen business processes, and provide information that supports sound decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications
