Job summary

Langan is seeking an Intern/Co-op - Traffic Engineering to join its collaborative team in New York, NY. This individual will serve a key function in providing assistance with Traffic/Transportation project work.

As an intern, you will observe traffic, prepare technical reports and design plans for transportation studies, and gain hands-on experience while collaborating with a team.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Civil or Traffic Engineering/Transportation Planning.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred for consideration.
• Familiarity with HCS, SYNCHRO and MUTCD is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or SoftDesk civil software is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform traffic observation.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, design plans and specifications for traffic/transportation projects (e.g., ITS studies, permits, signals, pedestrian circulation, master plans).
• Observe construction.
• Travel may be required based on business needs.

Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

• Perform traffic observation
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, design plans and specifications for traffic/transportation projects such as transportation impact studies, highway occupancy permits, traffic signals, traffic and pedestrian circulation, and transportation master plans
• Observe construction
• Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications

• Student actively pursuing a four year or advanced degree in Civil or Traffic Engineering / Transportation Planning
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater is preferred
• Familiarity with HCS, SYNCHRO and the MUTCD is highly desirable
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or SoftDesk civil software are a plus
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities
• Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment
• Preference will be given to students who are currently in their Jr. or Sr. year or to students pursuing their MS degree
• Travel may be required based on business needs and project assignments
• Travel requirements may vary by position and may change based on business needs

Compensation

• Pay Range $25 - $32 USD

Compensation & Details

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.

Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm.

Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
