Job summary

The Baker Hughes Internship is designed to enable students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree to gain hands-on work experience in manufacturing within a global energy company. You will participate in focused training, work on projects, and be supported by a buddy and manager to ensure a valuable learning experience.

You will assist with day-to-day manufacturing operations, participate in quality control, collect data, and learn lean principles to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, Mechanics, or related STEM/business program.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
• Fluent in English with strong written and oral communication skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Assist day-to-day manufacturing operations, monitor equipment, and support production goals.
• Participate in quality control and QA processes to meet standards.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
• Collect and analyze data on manufacturing processes and product quality.
• Learn and apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
• Prepare reports, work instructions, and process documentation.
• Apply HS&E standards to ensure compliance during all activities.

During your internship, you will be supported by a buddy and your manager who will ensure you have a valuable learning experience. As an Intern, you will be responsible for:

• Assisting with the day-to‑day manufacturing operations, which may include monitoring equipment, overseeing processes, and ensuring production goals are met.
• Participating in quality control and quality assurance processes, inspecting products for defects, and ensuring they meet industry standards and company specifications.
• Identifying opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction in manufacturing operations.
• Collecting and analyzing data related to manufacturing processes, equipment performance, and product quality.
• Learning and applying principles of lean manufacturing to minimize waste, improve efficiency, and enhance productivity.
• Preparing reports, work instructions, and process documentation to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.
• Applying Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) standards and procedures in all situations to ensure compliance is maintained

To be successful in this role you will:

• Be currently enrolled in a Bachelors' or Masters' level degree in Engineering, Technology, Mechanics, other STEM-related or business related program.
• Have maintained a GPA grade greater than or equal to 3.0 out of 4.0 or the equivalent in your country
• Be fluent in oral and written English and have effective communication skills
• Be able to relocate for the duration of your internship (locations vary)
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must maintain work authorization throughout their employment without requiring sponsorship by Baker Hughes, now or in the future.

The hourly rate range for this position is $22-$44
