Job summary

Baker Hughes invites University interns to join a Manufacturing Internship in the United States. You will gain practical, hands-on experience across manufacturing operations while learning leading-edge technology and Lean principles.

A buddy and manager will guide your learning, with coaching and mentoring to develop your skills. Interns will explore HS&E culture and diversity initiatives while contributing to real projects, with opportunities to present results and potentially relocate within

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelors' or Masters' degree program (Engineering, Technology, Mechanics, STEM or related business field).
  • GPA 3.0 or higher (4.0 scale) or equivalent.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day manufacturing operations and monitor equipment and processes.
  • Participate in quality control and assurance activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
  • Collect and analyze data related to manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve productivity.
  • Prepare reports, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Adhere to HS&E standards and procedures.

The Baker Hughes Internship is designed to enable students pursuing a Bachelors' or Masters' degree to gain hands‑on work experience as the foundation of their professional lives. You’ll participate in focused training, and team meetings, work on projects, and present your results. During your internship, you will be supported by a buddy and your manager who will ensure you have a valuable learning experience. You can expect to receive coaching and mentoring to enable you to complete assignments and projects to develop your learning and skillset.

You will also have the opportunity to become familiar with the Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) and culture of Baker Hughes. as well as our strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

As an Intern, you will be responsible for:
  • Assisting with the day-to-day manufacturing operations, which may include monitoring equipment, overseeing processes, and ensuring production goals are met.
  • Participating in quality control and quality assurance processes, inspecting products for defects, and ensuring they meet industry standards and company specifications.
  • Identifying opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction in manufacturing operations.
  • Collecting and analyzing data related to manufacturing processes, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Learning and applying principles of lean manufacturing to minimize waste, improve efficiency, and enhance productivity.
  • Preparing reports, work instructions, and process documentation to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.
  • Applying Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) standards and procedures in all situations to ensure compliance is maintained.
Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be currently enrolled in a Bachelors' or Masters' level degree in Engineering, Technology, Mechanics, other STEM-related or business related program.
  • Have maintained a GPA grade greater than or equal to 3.0 out of 4.0 or the equivalent in your country.
  • Be fluent in oral and written English and have effective communication skills.
  • Be able to relocate for the duration of your internship (locations vary).
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must maintain work authorization throughout their employment without requiring sponsorship by Baker Hughes, now or in the future.
