Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services seeks an Intern/Co-op - Environmental (Summer 2027) to join its Seattle team. You will assist with environmental tasks on diverse land development projects, collaborating with environmental leadership and gaining exposure to field work and report preparation.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology degree with a 3.0+ GPA, strong attention to detail, and good teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical/judgment abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with field investigations, logging borings, sampling, and data collection.
  • Monitor construction projects for compliance with specifications.
  • Document results and prepare field investigation reports.
  • Learn data management and environmental modeling tools.
  • Support site reconnaissance, reports, and lab data summaries.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking an Intern/Co‑op - Environmental (Summer 2027) to join its collaborative team in Seattle, WA. This individual will serve a key function in providing assistance with environmental‑related technical aspects of diverse land development projects, both small and large scale. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner directly with environmental leadership and gain exposure to site feasibility studies which may involve field work, technical report preparation and calculations, pre‑construction conditions documentation, design plans and specifications.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist with the planning and execution of field investigations by logging borings, collecting samples, performing field tests and collecting and recording data;
  • Monitor construction projects by taking various tests to evaluate whether the contractor or subcontractor has complied with job specifications;
  • Identify solutions to field and/or laboratory problems and accurately document results;
  • Prepare reports documenting field investigations and analytical results;
  • Prepare a variety of standard logs and field forms (such as drilling logs, field investigation dailies, and chain of custody logs).
  • Learn data management and modeling tools for environmental media, how to perform engineering analyses, and how to properly use field equipment;
  • Conduct; file reviews, site reconnaissance, and prepares reports;
  • Prepare laboratory data summary tables and figures;
  • Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects;
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • Student actively pursuing a four year or advanced degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology;
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
  • Working knowledge of GIS or environmentally related software, and Microsoft Office Suite applications;
  • Travel may be required based on business needs and project assignments. Travel requirements may vary by position and may change based on business needs;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities; and
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
