Job summary

Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) seeks a student-intern to support civil and structural projects in Peachtree Corners, GA. You will be involved in field inspections, CAD drafting, and structural analysis using SAP2000, MathCAD, and Excel. The role emphasizes independent work and timely technical reporting.

Internships are full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. You may travel for short trips and must balance coursework accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Completed 3 years of college in Civil engineering or Physics/Science.
  • 3.00 GPA or higher, preferred.
  • Experience in field investigations, construction, structural inspections, structural analysis, structural design, technical report writing, and preparation is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Site visits to perform inspections of existing structures.
  • Dimensional documentation of structures and understanding of existing structural systems.
  • Condition assessment or damage documentation of damaged or other existing structures.
  • Reviewing literature, drawings, reports, or other documentation related to project work.
  • Preparing AutoCAD drawings detailing proposed repairs or retrofits to existing structures.
  • Using analysis software such as SAP2000 to perform structural analysis.
  • Using programs such as MathCAD or Excel to organize and present calculations and data.
  • Preparing technical reports to convey the results of analyses or inspections.
  • Internships with ESi are expected to be full-time, 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.
  • If you are participating in our internship program – we require that you take no more than 2 classes during your employment with ESi and are able to work a minimum of 32 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications
Education / Certifications / Licenses
  • Completed 3 years of college in Civil engineering or Physics/Science program
  • 3.00 GPA or higher, preferred.
Experience
  • Any experience performing field investigations, construction, structural inspections, structural analysis, structural design, technical report writing, and preparation is preferred.
  • Intermediate skills with CAD and office productivity software.
Other Technical & Non-Technical Skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite. In particular: Excel, Word
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be able to travel for trips of three days in length.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands

This role requiresfrequentlysitting or standing for extended periods of time and occasionally lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds, with infrequent lifting up to 75 pounds. The work regularly requires bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, andmaintainingbalance. This positionfrequentlyrequires handling andoperatingspecialized tools and equipment and working in a variety of physical positions, including occasionally accessing tight or confined spaces. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
