Job summary

AHBL in Tacoma, WA invites a Civil Engineering intern to join a multidisciplinary firm focused on public and private projects. You will work with experienced engineers, applying classroom skills to real-world tasks such as hydraulic calculations, drainage reports, and AutoCAD/Civil 3D work.

The internship runs May/June for 12–14 weeks, at roughly 40 hours per week, with opportunities for mentorship and potential full-time employment after graduation.

• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering degree program and have completed junior level coursework.
• Possess an interest in stormwater, road, and/or utility design and a desire to contribute to a team-based environment
• Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with hydraulic/hydrology calculations and drainage analyses.
• Support quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Contribute to research and feasibility studies and prepare reports.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a Civil Engineering intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers who are eager to share their knowledge and help you apply your classroom skills to real-world projects. Areas of work may include hydraulic/hydrology calculations, quantity take-offs/cost estimates, drainage reports and calculations, AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and project research and feasibility studies. Internships will begin in May or June at approximately 40 hours per week and will be approximately 12 - 14 weeks in duration.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering degree program and have completed junior level coursework
• Possess an interest in stormwater, road, and/or utility design and a desire to contribute to a team-based environment
• Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in AutoCAD
• Experience in stormwater modeling, grading, drainage, sanitary sewer, water distribution, and roads

COMPENSATION

• $22 - $25 per hour

Actual rate of pay will be based on the level of coursework completed, previous experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
