Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham is seeking a qualified candidate for the Cardiac Cath Lab to assist in cardiac procedures utilizing advanced technology. This role requires participation in various imaging and procedural tasks under supervision to ensure patient safety and adherence to protocols.

The ideal candidate will be registry eligible for ARRT, RCIS, or similar credentials and must obtain BLS certification within 30 days of hire. This position offers a flexible PRN schedule and a range of benefits including paid time off and tuition reimbursement.

The Cardiac Cath Lab at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham provides expert cardiac care in an outpatient setting utilizing cutting‑edge technology with three fully equipped cath labs and two non‑invasive labs. We offer a range of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including heart catheterization and percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), as well as advanced imaging techniques such as intravascular ultrasound (IVUS, OCT) and functional assessments (FFR/iFR). As part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll work in an environment where your expertise can make a lasting impact.

What You Will Do

• Assist with preparation and setup of cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, and structural heart procedures.
• Support physicians and advanced practice providers during invasive procedures.
• Perform imaging functions under supervision consistent with educational pathway and regulatory standards.
• Assist with hemodynamic monitoring and documentation.
• Maintain sterile field and procedural workflow.
• Prepare and position patients, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Adhere to radiation safety standards and infection prevention protocols.
• Participate in call coverage as competency milestones are achieved.
• Complete required educational modules and certification preparation activities.

What You Will Need

• Registry eligible for ARRT, RCIS, certified surgical technologist or other applicable credential (if pathway requires).
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Minimum Requirements

• Candidates must be within one (1) year of graduation from an accredited:
• Radiologic Technology program
• Cardiovascular Technology program
• Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist program
• Electrophysiology Technology program
• Interventional Radiology program
• Surgical Technologist program
