Zions Bancorporation’s Enterprise Technology and Operations (ETO) team offers a 2027 Paid Internship in the EPMO and Automation Governance space. Open to local candidates in Utah, the internship runs early January through mid-August and does not include relocation assistance.

This role provides hands-on experience delivering process improvements, automation, and governance support while you learn industry techniques and build your resume with real projects in a financial services setting.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Information Systems with emphasis in IT/Analytics.
  • Experience leading teams in school, clubs, or similar.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ownership of tasks.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Automate automation.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma concepts.
  • Experience with Process Mapping.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate to identify and implement process improvements for EMPO, including automation and reporting.
  • Participate in increment planning to drive outcomes.
  • Assist team events (planning, training, workshops).
  • Support the product owner and team to articulate requirements (backlog grooming).
  • Engage with customers through demos and communities of practice.

The mission of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) Team: Create, deliver, and communicate client-centric innovative product solutions using actionable insights to meet our strategic business objectives while providing value for our clients and the enterprise. The EPMO and Automation Governance Team is seeking an intern to serve in a Business Systems Analyst role to work closely with their direct teammates to implement improvements within our area of Program/Project Management and Governance responsibilities, learning and leveraging process improvement methods. This is a great opportunity to begin thinking of leading in a new way and learning industry techniques to work in and as a team. Additionally, experience with an Organizational Transformation will be the highlight of your internship and the “dink” on your resume. Job Responsibilities:
  • Work or pair with team to deliver identify and implement process improvements for EMPO – process automation, reporting, quality reviews, project management automation, documenting automation, requirements gathering automation.
  • Actively participate in increment planning activities that will drive to committed outcomes
  • Assist and engage in key team events (i.e., planning, training, workshops)
  • Support the product owner and overall team to identify and articulate requirements (backlog refinement)
  • Support events with customers that aids in their learning (e.g., communities of practice, demos)
Desired Experience/Skills:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems with an emphasis in Information Technology, Business Analytics, or Data Analytics
  • Experience in leading teams, i.e.in school, personal organizations, clubs
  • Self-motivated, servant minded and creative
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, take accountability and ownership of tasks
  • Excellent critical thinking, able to solve problems quickly and creatively
  • Experience with Microsoft or Power Automate automation
  • Experience with Lean, Shingo or Six Sigma concepts
  • Experience with Process Mapping

This position will be open until filled.
