The Jackie Robinson Training Center in Vero Beach, FL is seeking an Intern, Athletic Operations to assist with day-to-day department duties and events such as Breakthrough Series, Hank Aaron Invitational, Nike RBI events, Elite Development Invitationals, and the JRTC Labor Day Beach Bash Tournament.

You will liaise with onsite clients and JRTC staff, support sales and marketing efforts, and help assemble mailing lists and distribute promotional materials while gaining hands-on experience in

Qualifications

• Two- or four-year degree or equivalent; either in progress with time available.
• Experience in athletics environment preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day operation of the athletic department

• Coordinate and execute direct mail marketing efforts

Job description

Major League Baseball is looking for an Intern, Athletic Operations in the Athletic Operations department to assist with day-to-day athletic department duties, including events such as MLB’s Breakthrough Series, Breakthrough Series Invitational Tournament, Hank Aaron Invitational, Elite Development Invitationals, Nike RBI World Regionals, Nike RBI World Series, and JRTC Labor Day Beach Bash Tournament.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day operation of the athletic department
• Act as a liaison between onsite clients and JRTC staff
• Research and compile mailing/email blast lists of coaches, managers, athletic department personnel, etc., for distributing sales collateral materials; coordinate and execute direct mail marketing efforts
• Assist sales staff with outreach and sales calls to amateur, high school, collegiate, and professional athletic organizations
• Assist communications staff with content and review of promotional/sales collateral materials as well as print and digital advertisements promoting events and facilities
• Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Athletic Operations

Qualifications & Skills

• Preferred candidate will have a two- or four-year degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience; candidates currently enrolled in an accredited four-year program, with at least three years completed, will also be considered if available for the duration of the internship
• Previous experience working in an athletics environment and understanding of the game of baseball preferred
• Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
• Must be a professional, self-starter who will work as a team player and also be able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
• Ability to pull tarp when necessary

The Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC), operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) located in Vero Beach, Florida, serves as a year-round hub for amateur development initiatives and events designed to diversify and strengthen the talent pipelines of baseball and softball.
