Job description

With over decades of experience, our East Hartford-based firm offers a collaborative, growth-oriented environment for professionals who aspire to make a meaningful impact through design excellence.

We are currently looking for talented and motivated Intern Architects to join our dynamic project team. This is a full-time role where you will play a key part in all stages of design and project development, under the guidance of experienced architects and project managers.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will work closely with the Director of Design and/or Project Manager to support project execution across all phases of design and documentation. Responsibilities include:
General Coordination
  • Collaborate with architects, sub-consultants, and clients
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, log work hours daily, and submit timesheets weekly
  • Comply with internal policies and procedures
Design & Documentation
  • Conduct existing condition surveys: take measurements, photos, and prepare base drawings
  • Develop programming analysis: assess space needs, functions, and FF&E standards
  • Ensure code and zoning compliance: including building occupancy, egress, accessibility, and energy codes (e.g., COMcheck)
  • Contribute to site planning: setbacks, parking, landscaping, lighting, and ADA considerations
  • Assist with LEED certification documentation and recommend sustainability strategies
Design Development
  • Create schematic design drawings: floor plans, elevations, and sections
  • Coordinate with client consultants and sub-consultants
  • Research building products and document code/function compliance
Construction Documentation & Administration
  • Produce construction drawings including schedules and annotated details
  • Write technical specifications and basis of design documents
  • Support permitting by responding to review comments
  • Assist in bidding phase: pre-bid conferences and RFIs
  • Participate in construction administration: site meetings, submittal reviews, and RFI responses
  • Assist with project closeout: punch lists and final inspections
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor of Architecture from an NAAB-accredited institution
  • Fresher or experienced
  • Proficiency in Revit
Preferred
  • Enrolled in NCARB AXP Architectural Experience Program
  • Experience managing projects or coordinating consultants
  • Exposure to government and commercial projects
  • LEED AP accreditation or LEED documentation experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), Microsoft Office, and knowledge of AHCA standards
  • Salary: Competitive and negotiable based on experience
  • Seven paid holidays, full time employees are eligible for paid - personal days, sick time, vacation after 90 days introductory period
