As an IBM Consulting FutureNow Center Intern, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to help solve real business and technology challenges for clients around the world. You'll gain hands‑on experience, build in-demand technical and professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects while learning in a collaborative, team-based environment.

This internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands‑on experience that prepares students for a potential full-time career with IBM Consulting upon graduation.

Your Role And Responsibilities

At IBM, you’ll learn from experienced technology professionals while gaining hands‑on experience with modern software development and consulting practices.

During Your Internship, You May Have Opportunities To

• Collaborate Across Teams: Work with cross‑functional teams to understand requirements, define technical solutions, and contribute to project delivery.

As part of our Adobe practice, you may contribute to solutions focused on digital experiences, content management, customer engagement, marketing technologies, and personalized digital solutions.

You don't need experience with every technology listed above. Many interns join IBM with a foundation in computer science, software engineering, or related technical disciplines and develop specialized expertise through mentorship, structured learning, certifications, hands‑on projects, and AI-enabled tools.

Throughout your internship, you’ll gain exposure to software engineering, cloud technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), DevOps, Agile, and enterprise application development, while working with experienced engineers, architects, and technology professionals on real client projects across multiple industries.

High-performing interns may be considered for full-time Associate opportunities following graduation, based on business needs and individual performance.

• Basic understanding of programming concepts with exposure to at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, C++, or similar technologies through coursework, projects, internships, or personal learning.


• Basic understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, databases, APIs, and problem-solving concepts.


• Exposure to software development, web development, cloud technologies, databases, or technical problem-solving through coursework, academic projects, hackathons, student organizations, research, open‑source contributions, personal learning, research, volunteer experiences, IBM SkillsBuild, certifications, or other practical learning opportunities.


• Awareness of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, automation, cybersecurity, and modern software engineering practices.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

• Exposure to software development, cloud technologies, web applications, enterprise platforms, or modern application development through coursework, student projects, hackathons, research, open‑source contributions, or internship experiences.
