Job summary

Keystone Cooperative, Inc. is seeking an Agronomist Support Intern to assist our agronomists with on-farm trials and product evaluation during the growing season. You will help collect data, prepare scouting reports, and analyze drone imagery.

This internship requires 100% travel within the territory and a strong willingness to work outdoors, with 60% field time and 40% training, tours, and shadowing. Current enrollment in an accredited college is required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Agronomy major junior or senior preferred with prior field experience.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Make observations and collect data from on-farm trials and Keystone plots.
• Create scouting reports identifying weeds, insects, diseases, growth stages, stand counts, and product performance.
• Utilize drones for aerial observations, imagery, and data analysis.
• Collect corn and soybean tissue samples for tissue testing and perform soil moisture tests.
• Organize, place, and remove field signs for each trial.
• Shadow agronomist and assist with field calls; participate in a summer project and end-of-year presentation.
• Travel 100% within the territory; 60% in fields, 40% in training/events/shadowing.

Position Overview

Agronomist Support Interns will assist agronomists throughout growing season with on-farm trials and product evaluation, as well as completing an assigned project developed by agronomist.

Duties and Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to

• Make observations and collect data from on-farm trials and Keystone plots.
  • Create scouting reports that identify weeds, insects, diseases, growth stages, stand counts, and product performance.
  • Utilize drones to make aerial observations, produce imagery, and analyze data.
  • Corn and soybean tissue for tissue testing.
  • Perform soil moisture tests.
  • Organize, place, and remove field signs for each trial.
• Job shadow agronomist and assist with field calls.
• Collaboration with agronomist on a special project for summer, including preparation for end of year presentation.
• 100% travel in territory.
• 60% in fields, 40% in training/tours/events/shadowing.
• Based out of a location.
• Weekly professional development activities.

Skills and Qualifications

• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time and under all weather conditions.
• Complete work with little or no supervision in a timely manner; self-motivated.
• Agronomy Junior or Senior preferred. Must have previous agronomy/field experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable vehicle.
• Ability to use Microsoft, GPS Software, and field equipment.

Compensation

• Hourly (competitive wage).
• Mileage Reimbursement following IRS Standard Rate.
• Drone License education and exam fee reimbursement.
