Job summary

Prairie State Generating Company offers a summer internship in its corporate Accounting/Finance environment for college students.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly account reconciliations.
• Assist with treasury functions, including weekly and monthly cash reports.
• Perform accounts payable and general accounting duties as assigned.
• Assist with the evaluation and testing of internal accounting controls.
• Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports.
• Maintain electronic/archived record of accounts payable and other accounting related records.
• Work on special accounting projects including budgeting/forecasting, Payroll, Tax, Compliance Assurance, and monthly financial closing processes.
• Provide support to the Finance team as assigned.

Overview

Prairie State Generating Company is looking for college students who are interested in a summer intern program in the corporate Accounting/Finance environment of the power generation and coal mining industries. A limited number of internships are available for college students enrolled in a specific curriculum. Participating as an intern will provide experience and exposure to state-of-the-art technology in coal mining and power generation operation. Student interns will receive industry experience, hands‑on training, paid internship and exposure to industry professionals.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following (other duties and responsibilities may be assigned):

• Prepare monthly account reconciliations.


• Assist with treasury functions, including weekly and monthly cash reports.


• Perform accounts payable and general accounting duties as assigned.


• Assist with the evaluation and testing of internal accounting controls.


• Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports.


• Maintain electronic/archived record of accounts payable and other accounting related records.


• Work on special accounting projects which may include projects in Accounts Payable, Budgeting / Forecasting, Payroll, Tax, Compliance Assurance, and monthly financial closing processes.


• Provide support to the Finance team as assigned.


• Must have regular and reliable attendance.

Compensation and Benefits

At Prairie State, the base pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this role is $25.00 per hour Undergraduate level and $28.00 per hour Graduate level.
