Job summary

Baker Group in Des Moines, IA is seeking a student-intern to support project managers across electrical/mechanical/industrial services. You will assist with inventory tracking, scheduling, and maintaining project documentation while gaining real-world experience.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a degree in construction management, mechanical or electrical engineering and possess strong communication and Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications

• Working towards a degree in construction management, mechanical, electrical engineering OR equivalent experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proficient Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with and support project managers on the implementation of projects, including inventory tracking, project scheduling, last planner task and internal punch lists
• Gain knowledge of the systems and services the Company provides its customers via instructor-led and online training
• Work to acquire understanding of standard issues, develop and maintain documentation, identify trends, and make suggestions to improve support processes
• Partner with project managers in the continuation of business development and building relationships
• Collaborate with internal and external customers to maintain project schedules
• Assist project managers in supporting field staff by providing accurate and on time project information

PURPOSE

Provide support to the Company’s business units while gaining real-world work experience. Maintain and grow the “Customer for Life” concept for existing and new customers. Performs related work as required.
