Job summary

VIAVI Solutions is seeking a Hardware/FPGA Co-op in Germantown, MD to support circuit design, HDL coding, and testing on real products. You will join a product development team and collaborate with engineers to deliver robust communications test solutions.

The role provides hands-on experience with FPGA/CPLD design, lab equipment, and market-leading test gear, offering exposure to multiple design stages and a path toward professional growth in hardware engineering.

Qualifications

• Completion of at least one year of undergraduate education toward a degree in CPE, EE, or CS.
• Knowledge of fundamental electrical engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Familiarity with FPGA or CPLD programmable logic using HDL coding (Verilog or VHDL) preferred.
• Familiarity with the use of common lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, meters) preferred.
• Familiarity with schematic, PCB layout, and simulation tools (e.g. SPICE) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with various stages of the design process such as circuit design and testing, troubleshooting, writing HDL code and test benches.
• Work closely with other engineers to produce a robust and reliable product.
• Gain real world experience while working as a hardware co-op at VIAVI Solutions.
