The Waldinger Corporation in Des Moines, IA is offering a Data Engineering Intern role to support the Data Platforms team. You will gain hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt, and Power BI while building data pipelines and reports under senior guidance.

Responsibilities include data pipelines, modeling, automation, data quality, and collaboration with engineers and business stakeholders to enable analytics.

Qualifications

• Current student or recent graduate in computer science, information systems, data analytics, or a related field.
• Some SQL experience and a strong interest in data.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Preferred coursework or projects in data engineering or analytics.
• Familiarity with Snowflake, AWS, Azure, APIs, or messaging concepts.

Responsabilités

• Data Pipelines: build and maintain pipelines moving data into the cloud data warehouse.
• Data Modeling: develop SQL-based data models in Snowflake using dbt for dashboards.
• Automation: automate data workflows with Python and SQL; learn CI/CD with Git/GitHub.
• Data Quality: ensure data quality, security, and integrity; diagnose data issues.
• Collaboration: work with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data needs.

Waldinger has an opportunity for a motivated Data Engineering Intern in our Des Moines, Iowa office!

Job Summary

Supports the Data Platforms team in building the data pipelines, models, and reporting that power business analytics. Reports to the Manager of Data Platforms within the IT organization and gains hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt, and Power BI alongside senior team members.

Responsibilities

• Data Pipelines: Helps build and maintain pipelines that move data from source systems into our cloud data warehouse. Gains exposure to event-driven and real-time integration concepts.
• Data Modeling: Develops SQL-based data models in Snowflake using dbt that serve as the foundation for Power BI dashboards and reporting.
• Automation: Automates data workflows with Python and SQL and learns CI/CD practices using Git and GitHub.
• Data Quality: Applies best practices for data quality, security, and integrity, and troubleshoots data issues with guidance from senior team members.
• Collaboration: Works with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data needs.

Requirements

• Current student or recent graduate in computer science, information systems, data analytics, or a related field
• Some SQL experience and a strong interest in data
• Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred

• Coursework or projects in data engineering or analytics
• Familiarity with Snowflake, AWS, Azure, APIs, or messaging concepts
