Job summary

Universal Logistics is seeking a dedicated Railyard Equipment Operator at the Dolton, IL intermodal facility. The role trains in ground operations, hostler driving, and may advance to crane operator training based on experience and availability.

The position offers day, swing, and overnight shifts with a hourly pay of $20.00, plus comprehensive benefits and strong safety commitments. Candidates must be at least 18, hold a valid license, and be able to work outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment, especially forklifts and side loaders.
• Familiar with railroad operations and intermodal transport environment.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the job.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines related to intermodal transportation operations.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate yard trucks (hostler) to move trailers in and out of loading docks.
• Load and unload freight using forklifts, side loaders, and order equipment as necessary.
• Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Maintain a clean and organized rail yard area, ensuring that all materials are stored properly.
• Assist with heavy lifting tasks as needed, ensuring that safety protocols are followed at all times.
• Collaborate with rail road staff to ensure timely loading and unloading of goods.
