Job summary

J.B. Hunt is seeking an Intermodal Operations Intern in Charlotte, NC, to gain hands-on exposure to transportation management principles.

The role supports daily operations such as freight planning, asset utilization, safety compliance, and driver payroll under close supervision. Ideal candidates are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, comfortable with Microsoft Office, and able to work part-time 20–25 hours weekly during the semester.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
• Able to work 20-25 hours per week during the school semester
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite preferred
• Junior or Senior level students preferred
• Not eligible for sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to basic transportation management principles
• Participate in daily operational tasks including freight planning and asset utilization
• Assist with safety/DOT compliance, driver payroll, and logistics analysis
• Support Customer Value Delivery and driver supervision activities
• Contribute to profitability and loss management efforts
• Perform account-specific duties as required
