Job Description

About the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine: We focus on training osteopathic primary care physicians to serve Ohio, emphasizing primary care, research, and serving underserved communities. Our mission and values guide our work and community engagement.

Position Summary: The Float Nurse plays an essential role in ensuring quality clinical care and research compliance at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. The role involves performing medical tasks, assisting with procedures, and supporting clinical and research activities, primarily in the Clinical & Translational Research Unit (CTRU).

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing medical tasks such as venipuncture, IV insertion, medication administration, and assisting with biopsies and other procedures.
  • Collecting and processing samples, performing vital signs, and ensuring documentation accuracy in EMR systems.
  • Providing patient education and supporting clinical skills labs.
  • Participating in research activities, team meetings, training, and community outreach.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or BS with RN license from Ohio.
  • At least 3 years of related professional experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and AHA BLS certification.
  • Competency in vital signs, medication administration, and assisting with procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical research experience and knowledge of GCP preferred.

Additional Details: The position offers benefits such as sick leave and retirement, with a pay range of $32.65 – $40.67 per hour. It is an intermittent, as-needed position with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. The appointment is for one year, with potential for renewal.
