The Intermittent Float Nurse is an integral part of the Heritage College nursing team, ensuring the integrity and quality of clinical care and research at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals, and institutional policies and procedures. The Float Nurse will independently perform medical tasks or assist with procedures in the clinical setting, working with diverse populations and a range of conditions, including those involving investigational products or procedures. A strong understanding of medical procedures (e.g., IV insertion, venipuncture, medication administration and accountability, ECG, etc.) and excellent bedside manner are essential.
The Float Nurse will primarily be assigned to the Clinical & Translational Research Unit (CTRU) but will also have opportunities to support other clinical units within the Heritage College, performing various clinical tasks such as vaccinations, patient education, and teaching skills labs. Adaptability and a strong, team-oriented attitude are key to success in this role.
