Job summary

University of Michigan’s Program in the Environment (PitE) seeks applicants for one part-time lecturer to teach one course in Winter 2027. The position is 33% FTE and non-tenure track, with in-person instruction on the Ann Arbor campus unless otherwise justified.

The successful candidate will have a PhD or a Master’s with substantial experience, demonstrate teaching excellence, and bring climate/environment policy experience to the classroom. The appointment ends April 30, 2027.

Qualifications

• A PhD in environmental studies, public policy or another sustainability-related discipline OR a Masters Degree with at least five years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring.
• Professional experience in climate, environment, and/or water policy, design, or advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Teach one course in the Winter 2027 term (ENVIRON 400-level).
• Hold office hours and handle routine instructional matters.
• In-person teaching on the University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus unless a remote/hybrid justification exists.
