Job summary

Robinson ISD in Texas seeks an Intermediate Special Education Teacher- Functional Academics for the 2025-2026 school year. The teacher will develop IEP-based activities and modify curricula to match students’ abilities in a self-contained or team setting.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a valid Texas teaching certificate with special education endorsements. Experience is preferred. Start date is August 2025 and the role reports to the Principal.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments
Ability to understand and address individualized needs of students assigned
Knowledge of the ARD Committee process and IEP goal-setting and implementation
Knowledge of how to adapt curriculum and instruction to address special needs
Effective communication skills
2 years of teaching experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs through the ARD Committee process for each student assigned.
Document student progress; plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to support learning.
Present subject matter effectively according to IEP guidelines and use varied media.
Modify curricula with classroom teachers to support learning in general education.
Create and report progress on individualized, standard-based goals.
Participate in ARD Committee meetings and serve as Case Manager for students assigned.
Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement.
Consult district and outside resources regarding educational, social, medical, and personal needs of students.
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
Manage student behavior, discipline, and safety per IEP.
Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Plan and assign work for aides/volunteers and oversee completion.
Maintain professional relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Keep informed of regulations and policies for special education teachers.
Compile, maintain, and file reports and records.
Utilize assistive technology and adaptive equipment to support student progress.
Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees.
