Ladders is seeking an Intermediate Software Engineer, Security to build backend features that support vulnerability management in a distributed engineering environment. You will improve performance, scalability, and reliability of ingestion and reporting systems while collaborating with security, product, and design teams.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of backend development experience in Ruby on Rails.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Intermediate Software Engineer, Security Factory: Vulnerability Management to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This role focuses on building and improving backend capabilities that support vulnerability management workflows within a distributed engineering environment. You will help drive performance, scalability, and reliability across ingestion and reporting systems while partnering closely with security, product, and design stakeholders. The position also offers the opportunity to contribute to full stack work, review code, and help maintain a high-quality engineering standard across the team.

Location: Remote

Compensation: $115,200 – $172,800 annually

Responsibilities

• Develop backend features for vulnerability management workflows
• Ship features and improvements with minimal supervision
• Enhance performance and scalability of ingestion and reporting systems
• Collaborate with frontend engineers and contribute to full stack development
• Work alongside security teams to integrate vulnerability data and workflows
• Ensure high quality in collaboration with product managers and designers
• Conduct code reviews and address technical debt

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of backend development experience in Ruby on Rails
• Experience maintaining software systems within an engineering team
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges effectively
• Experience with relational databases, primarily PostgreSQL
• Strong communication skills for distributed team collaboration
• Willingness to learn and teach technical skills to peers
• Familiarity with frontend technologies like JavaScript or Vue.js is a plus
