Intermediate Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE)

Location:

APG, MD or Detroit, MI Metro area, remote considered for well qualified applicants

Company Overview:

VES, LLC is seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to support the Ground Combat Systems' Common Infrastructure Architecture (GCIA) and Ground Vehicle Operating System (GVOS) development efforts. The role involves requirements analysis, tracing, and decomposition to ensure system models accurately reflect design needs and constraints. Collaboration with software, systems, and hardware engineers is essential to develop structured and traceable architectures for U.S. Army ground combat platforms.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Develop SysML-based system models using Cameo or similar MBSE tools.
2. Perform requirements analysis, tracing, and decomposition to maintain system integrity.
3. Maintain traceability between high-level system requirements and detailed software/hardware designs.
4. Support DoD standards-based system engineering processes in compliance with Army and DoD guidelines.
5. Create system diagrams, documentation, and interface definitions for cross-functional teams.
6. Collaborate with software engineers to define interfaces, constraints, and interactions.
7. Assist in developing verification and validation strategies to ensure system compliance.
8. Support model reviews and technical documentation updates with stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications:

1. Understanding of requirements management and traceability using tools like DOORS or Jama.
2. Familiarity with ground vehicle combat systems or embedded software architectures.
3. Experience working in a DoD or defense-related engineering environment.
4. Security clearance eligibility (active clearance preferred).

Minimum Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
2. At least 3 years of experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
3. Proficiency in Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or similar tools.
4. Experience developing SysML models for complex systems.
